In this time of fast change and uncertainty, First Presbyterian Church continues to be a community of faith living the Great Ends of the Church by growing as disciples of Jesus Christ, worshipping God, building Christ-centered relationships, and engaging in mission for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
Trusting in God alone as our source of hope and inspiration, we work for:
The proclamation of the gospel for the salvation of humankind,
Proclaiming Christ in the World
The shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God,
Living life united in Christ
The maintenance of divine worship,
Celebrating God’s love
The preservation of the truth,
Living and growing in the Word
The promotion of social righteousness,
Serving faithfully in Christ’s name
The exhibition of the kingdom of Heaven to the world,
Submitting our Resources to the Reign of God
Proclaiming Christ in the World... Believing Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, we go into the world to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all seekers, inviting them to a life of discipleship through word and ministry.
Living Life United in Christ... Believing Jesus to be uniquely present with his people, we seek to be a caring, loving community of Christ’s disciples, who are led and gifted by the Holy Spirit, and who support one another, encourage one another, admonish one another, and forgive one another.
Celebrating God’s Love... Believing God to be the Creator of all, we glorify and enjoy God by gathering together to celebrate God’s love through joyful thanks and grateful praise.
Living and Growing in Word and Spirit... Believing God speaks to us through the Living Word and the written word, and that God’s life is poured into us through the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and seek to live in ways that demonstrate the power of God’s Spirit to transform lives.
Submitting Our Resources to the Reign of God... Believing Jesus Christ is the Lord of all life, and that a time will come when the whole world will exalt and confess his holy name, we earnestly submit our wills, our hearts, our minds, our work, our time, our money, and our resources to him in order to invite people to welcome the kingdom of God.
We are called
- to be a living faith-full display of God's love so that we may invite all into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ,
- to equip ourselves through knowing and studying the Word and living in the Spirit to become authentic disciples of Jesus,
- to live daring, imaginative, and creative lives sharing in service and mission in the name of Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of the world.
In engaging these priorities, First Presbyterian Church will work towards revitalizing many of the components of its ministry such as the Chancel and Bell Choirs, a new organist, new approaches to Christian Education, celebration of the life of Jesus through special days and holidays. As a church, we will add to our efforts of building community through our support of local artisans and crafters, care of the environment, local farming as well as sustainable energy.
We will continue to build new innovative relationships, collaborations, and partnerships to help grow the Presbyterian Event and Retreat Center (P.E.R.C) into a central hub of Kingdom activities for conversion, growing in discipleship, fellowship, creativity, health, and wholeness.
We invite everyone to take on the exciting challenge of being a mission builder and covenant partner this year as we advance together to rebuild First Presbyterian Church for the generations to come.
