Ministry

All are welcome to join our Sunday morning Worship Service at 10:00AM, our prayer and praise service at 6:00 PM on Saturday, and our Monday Prayer Group, which asks you to join in the prayers.

Our Christian Education director and volunteers are with the children at the Saturday service. Children are welcome in worship on Sunday. Adult Bible study takes place in meetings of the men's and women's groups and is also held on Wednesday mornings. The church library is available for use by our members. Our Christian book study group meets on the third Monday of each month at 6:00 PM, with dessert. All are welcome at Bible and book studies.

Music is an important aspect of worship at First Presbyterian Church. The Chancel Choir sings at each worship service from September through June. The bell choir, the Steeple Bells, performs once a month during that time. In the summer there is special music for each service arranged by the music director.

In the summer films are shown for families on a week night. A family game night is held year-round twice a month on Friday night. Movies are shown in the summer.

Through our book studies we have learned about some new and challenging approaches to church ministry that encourage us to think "outside the box." Our first book was Selling Swimsuits in the Arctic. Our second book was It Takes a Church to Raise a Village. Discussions were held at church in July, 2006. This book reports a challenging approach to service through the church which can result in very significant growth. Studies are now focusing on books about the Bible and Bible-based fiction.

First Presbyterian Church of Auburn scholarship funds provide support for college and technical school students who are members or the children or grandchildren of members. These funds bear the names of 26 donor church members and the parents of our former pastor Dennis Haines and his wife Donna.
